Baby Bell's Birth

We were lucky to actually be in the barn the whole time for Betsy's labor.  These pictures might not be for the faint of heart, but I find them fascinating. . .

Here the hooves and tip of the nose are just showing.  Betsy's been restless, getting up and down and pawing at the ground.

Betsy is straining, notice her extended neck.

The worst is over and Baby Bell is just about out.  The hind quarters come out fairly easily and Betsy is beginning to look for her baby.

Once Bell was fully born, we moved her up to Betsy's head and Betsy starts licking.  It took less than 30 minutes from picture #1 above to now.

Bell is struggling to stand and find the all important teat.

Success!!!
